Dermabrasion is a general procedure that can reduce the appearance of scars, some facial flaws or wrinkles by exfolliating and removing the topmost layers of skin with a rotating facial brush.
Dermabrasion is performed with a special hand held device known as a dermabrator. Dermabrasion helps refinish the top layers of the skin through an exfolliating process which sharpens down the edges of a surface giving the skin a much smoother appearance. Dermabrasion can be performed in either small areas of the face or the entire face itself. Although the dermabrasion process can give your skin a smoother more youthful look it also can help reduce aging, acne scars, and sun spots, and wrinkles. A dermabrasion does not involve any trauma to the skin there will not be any required down time.
Dr Byun will place you under general anesthesia for procedures that include deep surgical dermabrasion which usually cause heavy discomfort.
After the dermabrasion procedure is complete the skin will experience redness. After the procedure the patient takes about 3 to 5 days for healing time. Any swelling or pain that may occur will be maintained by medication that can be prescribed by the physician if needed.
