Fixing Acne Scars with Dr. BYUN’s Midface Repair Technique

Contrary to popular belief, lasers and fillers don’t do much to change the appearance of acne scars.

Top Midwestern Plastic Surgeon Dr. BYUN uses two side-by-side techniques to achieve meaningful, long lasting results. He uses subcision and his famous midface muscle lift.

He removes scars that are pulling down on each acne pit by releasing that tissue through a small incision. Then he performs his midface muscle repair to support the skin once all the depressed pit marks are released. Lifting muscle and skin in conjunction with the subcision technique decreases the pitting appearance by making the scarred area smoother. Subcision alone and fillers will never make these marks go away since they will collapse at the same spots causing the skin to pit all over again.

Another popular option within Dr. BYUN’s practice is utilizing his MedClub. The MedClub consists of two highly trained and experienced Medical Aestheticians who can kickstart your acne and acne scar repair journey. This is great for patients who aren’t ready for bigger procedures, who have lighter acne scars, or who haven’t had much experience with facial services and scar repair.

Dr. BYUN’s Aestheticians will determine a custom treatment plan, and a homecare regimen if needed. The aestheticians can perform treatments such as microneedling, microdermabrasion, and chemical peels to aid in the reduction of acne scars. Patients do see significant change with these treatments alone when they are consistent, however some may reach a plateau, needing more aggressive treatments.
