Lip Augmentation – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Method:

PRP (platelet) injections create instantaneous volume in one or both of the lips. The result can range from subtle to dramatic in accordance with one’s goals. Lip augmentation with PRP can enlarge the outer border of the lips, called the Vermillion, soften fine lines within the lips and reshape the cupid’s bow.

The procedure is customized to give a more full and youthful looking mouth. PRP lip treatments are temporary because the body eventually reabsorbs its own platelets. Treatments are quick and easy to repeat, so people that are pleased with the results often choose to continue them.

PRP lip injections involve a very simple process and there is little to mild discomfort. The procedure can be performed in the office with a local anesthetic. The procedure takes only minutes and will last for several months.

Lip Augmentation – K.I.S.S.™ Method:

The K.I.S.S.™ procedure was developed by Chicago Facelift Guru Dr. BYUN. This involves placing a dissolvable suture material in the lips to lift, shape, and create one’s desired lip look. This method provides longer lasting results than PRP injections.

Synthetic Lip Injections & Fat Transfers:

Longer lasting treatments considered to be semi-permanent involve the injection of a synthetic hybrid material such as, Restylane, Bioform, Versa, or Radiesse. Dr. BYUN discourages these synthetic fillers because he has found that complete absorption by the body is rare and that the filler tends to migrate to non-intended areas over time. Fat transfers to the lip area is also discouraged by Dr. BYUN because over-time, a lumpy appearance often occurs.

What Should I Expect?

Lip augmentation procedures produce an instant change in appearance. You’ll leave the office with fuller, curvier lips. Depending on the procedure, some extra swelling will be expected and temporary bruising is possible. Some sensitivity is expected however, these side effects will diminish within the first week.

How Long Will It Last?

Although it varies from person to person, temporary injectable lip treatments last 3-5 months. Suture techniques have been known to last 12-18 months.
